Mt Cook accommodation can be hard to find and is generally expensive for what you get. This is because Mt Cook is New Zealand’s highest peak, nestled amongst the Southern Alps in the breath-taking and unique Aoraki National Park. There are only a few holiday homes at what is somewhat inaptly named “Mt Cook Village” offering Mt Cook accommodation. Apart from a big hotel, there is one other café, a Department of Conservation Information Centre (with very limited opening hours) and no shops.  You’ll have to think of bringing e-v-e-r-y-thing!
